We agree, slime is a fun sensory game, and there are some educational/development benefits to play with slime. What is not fun is to find the slime confusion in the whole house from spills in the kitchen to the slime on the rug.


How to remove the slime from the carpet

Our preferred method to remove the slime from the carpet is to use vinegar. Some people have also successfully used rubbing alcohol. Just be sure to read and always follow the labels on the used products and adults should only clean the slime.

The slime is made up of glue first, and most of the glue made is washable. We really prefer Elmer’s glue for this reason because it is non-toxic and washable.

Materials needed to remove the mud from the carpet

This is what you will need if you want to know how to remove the slime from the rug using my method:

  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • OxiClean
  • Paper towel
  • Spray Bottle


Steps to remove the slime from the carpet

This is our preferred method to get carpet slime as the vinegar is safe and easy to use.

Step 1: Always be sure to stain the vinegar test on your carpet before using it.

Step 2: Remove the maximum slime from the carpet with your hands.

This is how much we have eliminated at. First, you can see that there is still a little left that sticks to the fibers of the rug.

Keep picking up as much slime as you can. The more you can clean with your hands, the better. This is where we ended up before we tried more.

Step 3: Combine 2 parts vinegar with 1 part water and place in a spray bottle.

Step 4: Sprinkle the vinegar mixture in the mud. Let him dive. You should immediately begin to see the dissolution of the slime.

Step 5: Dry the slime with a paper towel to remove some of the spray mixtures and repeat with more spray until the slime is gone. Keep repeating until slime is removed.

Step 6: If after using the vinegar mixture your carpet is stained, you can use OxiClean to remove the stain from the carpet. The vinegar mixture should remove all the slime.

How to get dry slime from the carpet

As soon as you see the slime on the carpet or the clothes, you will want to remove it immediately. Letting it stand and dry will only make it difficult to remove. But unfortunately, sometimes you can’t see it right away and if that happens, don’t worry. Even with dry slime, you can follow the above methods, and you should be able to remove the slime.

If you find that you can’t get out of the dry slime with your hands, try to apply some ice on top of the slime. Let this sit for 10 minutes or even frozen. Once the slime is frozen, you should be able to choose or break the mud from the carpet.

You can then follow the steps above and apply the vinegar mixture to remove the rest.
